Let’s follow Elite dentists to checkup oral health for nearly 500 AIS school students

On March, 2023, Elite Dental conducted oral health examinations for over 200 students ranging from 3 to 12 years old at the Australian International School (AIS).

At Elite Dental, we recognize the numerous advantages of maintaining good oral hygiene from an early age and the significance of having a beautiful, healthy smile. That is why our mission is to protect and maintain healthy teeth, starting from the baby teeth stage (3 – 5 years old) and paying particular attention during the period of tooth replacement (6 – 12 years old). Our aim is to enable children to smile confidently, playfully, and with good oral health.

Of the 400 students who received oral health examinations, more than 20% had issues with their teeth, mainly baby teeth. Additionally, nearly 60% of the students exhibited bite deviations, such as overbite, underbite, crowded teeth, deep bite, and open bite. However, there were also a significant number of students who maintained healthy teeth and good oral hygiene. The visit provided the orthodontist and Elite Dental team with the opportunity to educate children on the significance of brushing and the value of having a healthy, beautiful smile.

For children who experience problems like overbite, underbite, crowding, deep bite, or open bite, Elite’s orthodontists strongly recommend correcting them as soon as possible, particularly during the tooth replacement stage (between 6 to 12 years old), to achieve the most comprehensive outcome. Early orthodontic treatment can fully resolve the child’s dental deviations. Delaying treatment may result in more severe issues that are challenging to correct, leading to less comprehensive results.

The American Association of Orthodontists recommends that children undergo orthodontic screening starting from the age of 6 or 7, known as the “golden” age. At Elite Dental, we have been promoting this message for the past 10 years with a bank of successful children’s orthodontic cases. By conducting dental x-rays, the orthodontist can obtain a clear view of the child’s tooth condition, including the location of permanent tooth sprouts and whether there are any teething abnormalities. With these measurements, the orthodontist can determine whether the child has a predisposition to have overbite or underbite and can provide advice on the most appropriate time to intervene.

Elite Dental is honored to have the trust of the management of the Australian International School – AIS and to work alongside them in caring for the dental health of their students. Our team of skilled and experienced orthodontists uses our internal resources to assist children who have dental defects or low self-esteem with their teeth in achieving a healthy smile, enabling them to eat and chew well and, most importantly, feeling confident about themselves.
