Single-tooth implant is a safe and long-lasting solution for restoring a single missing tooth. This method involves placing a titanium implant (proven to be safe and biocompatible) into the jawbone to replace the lost tooth root, and then attaching a porcelain crown to restore the appearance and function of the missing tooth.

Who Should Consider A Single-Tooth Implant?

If you are experiencing any of the following situations, you should consider single dental implant treatment:

A person who has just lost a tooth and wants to restore it immediately to ensure aesthetics, chewing function, and avoid future complications.

A person who has lost a tooth for many years, leading to the surrounding teeth shifting and misalignment of the bite.

A person who has lost a tooth but the adjacent teeth are not strong enough to support a dental bridge.

Benefits Of Single-tooth Implant

Implant placement is considered the optimal solution for restoring a single missing tooth, offering many outstanding advantages:

Restore the shape and function of teeth lost by over 95%

Dental implants are almost as complete as real teeth, chew firmly, and have a natural aesthetic to help customers smile confidently, comfortably communicate and live.

Prevent tooth shifting

Restoring teeth early with the implant method will prevent the remaining teeth from shifting and tilting toward the missing tooth, causing misalignment of the bite and affecting chewing function and aesthetics. Particularly, when teeth shift, the gaps between them widen, making it easier for food to get stuck and causing cavities, gum inflammation, periodontitis, and bad breath. If left untreated for a long time, it can lead to further tooth loss. Thus, an initial single tooth loss can lead to the loss of multiple adjacent teeth.

Prevent jawbone deterioration

The implant post, once placed, will quickly integrate biologically with the body and exert force on the bone during chewing, helping to preserve the maximum volume of the jawbone.

Long-lasting results, lifetime maintenance

Dental implants have strong durability, if carefully cared for, they have a very long lifespan.

Step 1: Examination, filming, consultation with the doctor

When undergoing Implant treatment, X-ray and CBCT scans help the dentist accurately assess the condition of the jawbone and plan the treatment meticulously to ensure optimal results. With complete imaging data, the dentist will examine and advise on the timeline and steps of the treatment for you.

Step 2: Blood test

If you agree with the treatment plan, you will be required to have a blood test to check your blood clotting status and screen for blood sugar levels (if you have diabetes) to ensure safety during surgery

Step 3: Perform the implant placement

On the appointment date,  customers arrive at Elite Dental for the implant procedure. Rest assured that throughout the procedure, the dentist will administer anesthesia to ensure customers are comfortable and at ease.

Typically, the implant placement procedure for a single tooth without bone grafting takes about 15 minutes, very gentle and often lighter than tooth extraction. Upon completion, you will receive detailed instructions from Elite on how to care for the wound at home thoroughly.

Step 4: Re-examine after 7-10 days

You need to return to the clinic for the dentist to monitor and evaluate the condition of the implant post-placement in the jawbone.

Step 5: Attach the tooth onto the implant

After 6-12 weeks, when the implant has biologically integrated with the body, customers are scheduled to return to Elite Dental for the attachment of the tooth onto the implant. This phase typically spans over 2-3 appointments spaced about 5-7 days apart.

Estimated Timeframe

Approximately 6 – 14 weeks to complete a single dental implant. In cases where customers have been missing a tooth for a long time and have significant bone loss, bone grafting may be necessary first. After that, the implant placement and porcelain crown restoration can be completed after a 6-month healing period.

FAQ About Single Tooth Implant

Regarding the decision to undergo a single tooth implant, surely you may have several concerns. Understanding this, Elite Dental would like to provide comprehensive answers to common questions you may encounter.

Should I choose a bridge or a dental implant to replace a missing tooth?

A dental crown bridge can be used in cases of a single missing tooth, provided that the adjacent teeth are strong enough to support the bridge abutment. However, this method requires the reduction of at least two adjacent natural teeth, and the lifespan of a dental bridge typically ranges from 7 to 10 years.

Opting for a dental implant preserves the maximum integrity of remaining natural teeth, affecting only the site of the missing tooth with a single procedure that ensures lifelong results. This method is also considered the optimal approach to tooth restoration and is recommended for prioritization.

How does a dental implant prevent jawbone loss?

Through chewing activities, a dental implant stimulates jawbone growth, thereby maintaining stable bone density and preventing bone loss.

What is the lifespan of a dental implant?

A dental implant can endure and function well for 20 years, 40 years, or even a lifetime with proper care.

We hope that with the information above, you now have a clearer understanding of the dental implant solution for replacing a single tooth and can make an informed decision. If you have any further questions, please contact Elite Dental at 028 7306 3838 for detailed consultation.
