Dental care in Vietnam: lower costs, but more than price matters
2. Does the Saving Hold Up After Flights and Hotels?
Let’s take an example: one arch of All-on-4 using a Korean implant system, assuming an Australian quote of A$27,000.
Australian prices are for market reference only and may vary by clinic and city.
| Cost (A$) | |
| Treatment with us (from) | 12,200 |
| Two return flights | 1,600–2,600 |
| Hotel and meals, 10–14 days | 1,200–2,500 |
| Total cost in Vietnam | 15,000–17,300 |
| Difference vs. a A$27,000 quote | ≈ 9,700–12,000 |
If Australian pricing is at the lower end, for example A$23,000, the difference narrows to roughly A$5,700–8,000.
Your actual quote is what decides the outcome, so compare every line item in detail rather than looking only at the initial treatment price. Implant treatment usually requires two trips: the first to place the implants, and the second, a few months later, for the final restoration.
Veneers and crowns can usually be completed in a single 5–10 day stay.
Affordable dental care for international patients, without compromising on quality
3. How We Make Treatment Decisions: Ms. Michelle’s Case
Ms. Michelle, from New Zealand, came to us to be examined in person by Assoc. Prof. Tran Hung Lam, Professional Director. We built her treatment plan in stages, based on the fixed period of time she could stay in Vietnam.
- Situation
Ms. Michelle wanted a fixed set of teeth supported by implants and had only a set window of time for treatment in Vietnam. Before coming to Vietnam, she shared her general health information with us remotely. Assoc. Prof. Lam prepared a preliminary plan so she could arrange her trip with confidence.
- Situation
- Diagnosis
On arrival, she had a 3D CBCT scan to assess jawbone density and identify key anatomical structures. Assoc. Prof. Lam then explained her case: “Her initial oral condition was that she was missing many teeth, with bone loss and a fairly small amount of available bone. For this reason, we performed bone grafting at the same time as placing the implants. In the end, she underwent a single surgery in which 8 implants were placed at once, combined with a bone grafting procedure.” - Treatment, outcome and limits
- Stage 1 (6 days): all 8 implants placed in a single surgery.
- Healing period (7 months): she returned home while the implants integrated with the bone.
- Stage 2 (5 appointments): she returned for a check-up and the final restoration on her implants.
Healing time differs from person to person, so we adjust the interval between the two stages for each case. This case was treated under the supervision of Assoc. Prof. Tran Hung Lam, DDS, PhD.
4. Who Are Implants Suitable For and What Are Their Limits?
Who are implants suitable for?
Implants may be suitable for adults who are missing teeth or have teeth that cannot be saved, who have enough jawbone, or bone that can be rebuilt, healthy gums and well-controlled general health.
We use CBCT to assess bone and anatomical structures before confirming a treatment plan.
Advanced imaging, digital planning and guided technology help deliver accurate, efficient and personalized dental care
What are the limits of implants?
Smoking, poorly controlled diabetes, untreated periodontal disease or insufficient bone volume can increase the complexity and risk of implant treatment. Some cases may need bone grafting or other supporting procedures before, or at the same time as, implant placement.
At Elite Dental, we have experience treating complex implant cases, including patients who are missing many teeth, have bone loss, or need bone grafting combined with implant placement. Every case is evaluated through examination and 3D CBCT so the dentist can determine bone condition, choose a suitable option and build a stage-by-stage treatment plan.

FAQ: What to Know Before Flying to Vietnam for Implants
How many times do I really need to come to Vietnam for implants?
Most implant cases need two trips: the first to place the implants, and the second, a few months later, for the final restoration.
The exact timing depends on your healing and treatment plan. We will determine the expected number of appointments before treatment begins.
What if I need bone grafting or a sinus lift?
These procedures are not included in the standard implant price, because whether they are needed depends on each person’s bone condition.
We assess your CBCT before confirming the treatment plan, and we explain clearly any additional procedures and the costs involved before you decide.
Can I send X-rays or a CBCT from Australia for advice before I fly?
Yes. You can send your most recent panoramic X-ray or CBCT so we can give a preliminary assessment.
However, the final treatment plan can only be confirmed after the dentist examines you in person and carries out the necessary diagnostics.
What should I compare when I receive an implant quote from another clinic?
Don’t compare only the price of the implant itself.
Check whether the quote includes the implant, abutment, crown or bridge, surgery, imaging, temporary teeth, aftercare and warranty.
You should also confirm the implant brand, the dentist who will perform the surgery, and what the plan is if adjustments are needed after you return home.
